Nokia's Windows RT tablet codenamed Sirius to look similar to Lumia phones: Report

Alleged images of Nokia's new Windows RT tablet surfaced online, a few days back, and now it's being suggested that the Finnish giant's first tablet would closely resemble its Lumia smartphones.
According to a report by The Verge, Nokia is working on launching a new 10.1-inch Windows RT tablet, codenamed Sirius. It says that the images which leaked online a few days back were of a prototype and the final device would be a bit different.
An earlier report by the same publication suggested that the tablet has been codenamed Vanquish.
The report offers some more details about the tablet's form factor and hardware specifications. It mentions that the tablet will be thinner than the current generation iPad and would be lighter, weighing just over a pound. The tablet will have a coloured body and its 10.1-inch screen would feature a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, which would be optimised for outdoor reading, as per the report.
The Nokia tablet would sport a 6-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The report cites sources to inform that the tablet will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It adds that the tablet will offer LTE connectivity and will deliver a battery backup of 10 hours. The tablet will offer expandable storage and feature a microSD card slot in to extend its 32GB internal storage capacity. It's also likely to come with a micro-HDMI connector, and a micro-USB port. This is in line with the rumoured specifications that leaked earlier.
Nokia will offer a keyboard accessory with the tablet that includes a battery for additional charging, as per the report. The company is expected to unveil the tablet at an event in New York (US) on September 26 and will price it comparatively with the iPad, it adds.
It is interesting to note that Nokia believes the Windows RT platform has a future, after Microsoft itself failed to make a dent in the market with its Surface RT tablet, taking a $900 million charge for "inventory adjustments" for the tablet in its last quarterly earnings.

Nokia's Windows RT tablet reportedly set for September launch, purported pictures surface

It has been rumoured for a while now that Nokia is working on a Windows RT tablet. Now some new images have surfaced online that show the tablet's rear panel.
The images first popped on a Chinese website, Digi-wo that revealed Nokia's branding in the middle of the rear panel of a Red tablet. Visible below that is a Windows RT label indicating that the tablet runs on Microsoft's Windows variant for ARM devices that has failed to gain any kind of traction so far. Verizon and 4G LTE branding is also visible on the tablet.
However, not much has been revealed at this point in time in terms of hardware specifications of the tablet.
The Verge claims that Nokia will unveil its tablet at a special launch event in New York next month. The site also suggests that the company has been courting developers for the event and it is tentatively scheduled for September 26th, very much in-line with the earlier reports.
The Verge also cites "sources familiar with Nokia's plan" to say that the tablet is codenamed Vanquish and features Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and Windows RT. It adds that the tablet will include LTE support and will be made available on AT&T in the US as well.
This is in line with the rumoured specifications that leaked earlier. This included a 10.1-inch display and a quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU.
It is interesting to note that Nokia believes the Windows RT platform has a future, after Microsoft itself failed to make a dent in the market with its Surface RT tablet, taking a $900 million charge for "inventory adjustments" for the tablet in its last quarterly earnings.

A new rumour claims that Nokia is gearing up to introduce a new tablet. A device dubbed as RX-114 has popped up on popular graphics processor benchmarking website GFXBench.
Nokiapoweruser.com has posted the GFXBench (previously known as GLBenchmark) results that reveal a Nokia tablet dubbed as RX-114. The benchmark results suggests that the alleged Nokia RX-114 tablet would be powered by a quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU graphics processor. The site claims that it might be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. The screen resolution of the RX-114 tablet is 1371x771 pixels which is said to be similar to the Surface Pro's resolution. The device is expected to run Windows RT.
However, not much has been revealed in terms of hardware specifications including RAM, internal storage, camera and battery at this point in time.
Earlier, we had reported about Nokia's 'cancelled' Windows RT tablet being spotted online. The pictures of the alleged tablet featured a magnetic connector similar to the one we've seen in Microsoft's Surface tablets and on Apple MacBooks. The Nokia tablet is said to be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.
Of late, benchmark results are becoming a source to track upcoming devices but these can be faked.
