Lenovo X910 smartphone surfaces online via leaked benchmark results

Lenovo, which launched the K900 flagship smartphone earlier this year, is now working on its successor, if a new report is to be believed. Interestingly, the phone is rumoured to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU instead of the Intel processor that powers the K900.

G for Games has published An Tu Tu benchmark results that reveal some specifications of Lenovo's next smartphone. As per the site, Lenovo is working on another flagship phone, dubbed as Lenovo X910.

The benchmark result reveals a 2.1GHz quad-core processor scoring around 30,000 and running the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The results that the benchmark displays for the Lenovo X910 matches that of smartphones running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with the CPU clocked at around 2.1GHz. Other than that, not much is known about the specifications of the alleged smartphone.

Meanwhile, Lenovo K900 which was first showcased at CES and later launched in selective Asian markets that also included India has been creating a lot of buzz. The Lenovo K900 was launched along with five other Android smartphones, namely A706, A390, P780, S820 and S920.

The Lenovo K900 packs in Intel's dual-core Clover Trail+ platform, specifically the Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core processor clocking in at 2GHz with 2GB of RAM. It features a full-HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. It includes 16GB of internal storage and is backed by a 2500mAh battery.

NEC to exit smartphone business after failed deal with Lenovo: Report

Japan's NEC Corp plans to exit its loss-making smartphone business after a deal with Chinese PC maker Lenovo Group Ltd failed to materialize, the Nikkei reported.

The two companies have a partnership in the personal computers business and NEC was in talks with Lenovo for a deal for its smartphones operations since late 2012, the Japanese daily reported.

The Japanese electronics company had offered Lenovo a majority stake in NEC Casio Mobile Communications Ltd, its subsidiary that makes smartphones. Casio Computer Co and Hitachi Ltd are among NEC Casio's current investors.

NEC, once a market leader in the smartphones business in Japan, currently has a market share of about 5 percent, the business daily said.

The Japanese company will now focus on conventional handsets and plans to sell some of its mobile phone-related patents, according to the Nikkei.

NEC will reassign majority of NEC Casio employees to other group firms, the paper said.

Lenovo Ideapad A1000 tablet with voice calling now available for Rs. 8,980

Lenovo's new Ideapad A1000 tablet is now available at company's online store for Rs. 8,980.

The latest Ideapad tablet is the latest addition to the existing Ideapad tablet range that includes Lenovo Ideapad tablet A2107 and Lenovo Ideapad tablet Lynx K3011.

The A1000 is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek 8317 processor with 1GB of RAM. It comes with SIM support for voice calling. The tablet sports a 7.0-inch display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels and also includes a 3,500mAh battery that the company claims could deliver around 8 hours of Wi-Fi browsing. The tablet runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. It also includes a front 0.3-megapixel camera to handle video chats. The tablet also features Dolby audio enhancements with dual stereo speakers. The tablet also includes a 4GB storage.

At the price, Lenovo Ideapad A1000 will face competition from the likes of the Asus MemoPad priced at Rs. 7,999, Acer Iconia B1 at Rs. 9250, Micromax Funbook Talk available at Rs. 6,800 and iberry Auxus AX03G with a price tag of Rs. 8,499. The budget tablet segment has seen a number of tablet vendors entering the Indian market and launching tablets with a price tag of sub-Rs. 10,000.

Lenovo announced the Ideapad tablet range running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year.

Few days back, Gartner's survey showed that Lenovo surpassed HP to become the world's largest PC vendor and reclaim the top spot that it captured last year.
